ERODE POSTAL AND BSNL PENSIONERS STAGE DEMONSTRATION

ERODE DISTRICT AIPRPA & AIBDPA STAGE DEMONSTRATION IN FRONT OF HPO

The introduction of CBS (Core Banking Service) in selected Post Offices across the country is causing several problems. Even though any new introduction will have initial hick ups, the present problem appears to be far  more serious. The switching over from BSNL to Sifi as our internet service provider and the low level of internet bandwidth available for the CBS are some of the problems aggravating the situation beyond control. There are several technical hitches causing the Postal Staff serious head aches on one side and the customers including the Postal Pensioners who go to Post Office SB Counters for withdrawal of pension on the other side. The flaws in the planning of introduction of CBS appears to be very deep and the Infosys giant the technology provider of Finacle Software used for core banking service has no answers to sort out the problem to the satisfaction of thousands of SB customers as well as the Post Office Staff.
Incidentally in Erode HPO, Postal Pensioners are facing tremendous problems. The first payment of pension approximately was approximately made around 1.00 P.M. and a large number of senior pensioners are made to wait in front of the SB counters for hours and hours. The District Association of AIPRPA submitted memorandum to the authorities but to no avail.
The AIPRPA Tamilnadu State Association also sent a email communication to the Chief Postmaster General for his intervention to remove the problems faced everywhere in this count.
The frustrated Postal pensioners and the BSNL DOT Pensioners have ultimately decided to stage a protest this month pension payment day.  A protest demonstration was held.
The demonstration was presided over by com R.Subramanian District President of AIPRPA Erode District and com Sivagnanam, District Vice President ,AIBDPA. Com.N.Ramaswamy, District Secretary AIPRPA; Com S.Ayyasamy, District Secretary AIBDPA  and Com M.Muralidharan, Joint Secretary AIPRPA explained the demands. ComM.Chandrasekaran, AIBDPA proposed vote of thanks.
Due to the protest action additional staff were provided in the SB Counters; additional seating arrangements were made for the benefit of senior pensioners to sit; separate digital token display for the 4 SB Counters were provided by the authorities. This has helped withdrawal of pension from SB accounts without much hitch this time.

The AIPRPA CHQ congratulates the Erode District Association for taking this initiative in eliminating the problems faced by pensioners. We also congratulate the AIBDPA District Association for forging united action.
