Highlights of the 3rd AIC of AIPRPA!
• The 3rd All India Conference of All India Postal & RMS Pensioners Association was held successfully in Thiruvanathapuram City of Kerala from 13th December to 14th December, 2022. The AIC was presided over by CHQ President Comrade D.K.Rahate.
• The AIC was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan. His speech was the highlight of the Conference in which he made a scathing attack on the policies of Central Government which is bent upon privatizing Govt and Public Sector institutions including Postal while the unemployment is growing in the country year after year.
• Hon’ble Minister of Education & Labour Comrade Sivankutty; Ex-Minister of Health in Keala respected Comrade Srimathi; CITU State President Comrade Anathalavattom Anandan addressed and greeted the AIC.
• A Book on Comrade M.Krishnan containing articles written by many comrades and several articles written by Comrade M.Krishnan himself was translated into English and the book was released by the Hon’ble Minister of Education and Labour Comrade Sivankutty and its first copy was accepted by the CHQ President Comrade D.K.Rahate in the presence of the Mrs.Krishnan and also daughter and son-in-law of Comrade M.Krishnan on the dais.
• Comrade Srimathi former Minister for Health also greeted the AIC on the second day of the Conference.
• Welcome Song by the Cultural Troup on the first day of the Conference while the AIC was to start, and the dance and finally the drama on Punnappura Vayalar historical programmes by the Cultural Troup were organized nicely.
• The AIC was greeted by Doctor U.Srinivasaraaghavan Former Secretary DoP and by Comrade N.L.Sridharan General Secretary of All India State Government Pensioners Federation due to their physical inability to participate in the AIC.
• Leaders including Comrade Janardan Majumdar Secretary General NFPE; Comrade K.G.Jayaraj General Secretary AIBDPA; Comrade VAN Namboodiri Patron NCCPA; T.N.Venkateswaran General Secretary Kerala CGPA; Comrade P.V.Rajendran AGS Confederation of CG Employees & Workers addressed and greeted the AIC. All touched the important role being played by AIPRPA. Comrade Janardan Majumdar NFPE SG explained the importance of AIPRPA movement and assured that NFPE will continue to struggle with AIPRPA on issues confronting the Postal Employees and Pensioners. He explained that AIPRPA is the only Pensioners Association in Postal that will continue to receive NFPE’s assistance.
• The entitlement of Delegates to the AIC 258 and 193 Delegates were present in the AIC despite difficulties posed by Train Cancellation and non-availability of reservation for the journey etc. Total number of Visitors attended the AIC is around 225 from other states and from Kerala the total number of Visitors is around 150. Visitors to the AIC from Thiruvananthapuram City is around 200. Overall, there was an attendance of more than 700 at a given time. The Delegates and Visitors require full appreciation for their rapt attention in the proceedings of the AIC.
• The Report placed by the Central Managing Committee and the Audited Accounts for the Financial Years 1917-18; 1918-19; 1919-20; 1920-21; 1021-22 to both CHQ and Pensioners Post were unanimously approved by the AIC.
• All State General Secretaries and many delegates from different States were able to address in spite of the time crunch and their discussion shaped the organization to a greater extent. They spoke about many issues of the Pensioners and Family Pensioners that were noted by the CHQ for appropriate follow up action.
• Resolutions on Pensioners issues were unanimously adopted and the gist of the approved resolutions will be published in the Pensioners Post.
• Some Amendments to the bye-laws were adopted and the amendments approved will be published in the monthly journal shortly.
• Three Organization related important resolutions were unanimously adopted in the AIC. According to them, Bihar State Body is recognized as the State Association of AIPRPA regularly and the earlier decision of the CMC was reversed after the President of Bihar assured that shortly Divisions will be formed in the State and the list will be submitted to the CHQ. The other organization related resolutions empowered the CMC to take action including appointment of Steering Committees to some states to rejuvenate the organization.
• Elections to the ensuing term was unanimous. A list of 38 CMC was unanimously elected with Comrade K.Ragavendran Tamilnadu as the President; Comrade D.K.Debnath of Assam as the General Secretary; and Comrade C.Sekar of Tamilnadu as the Treasurer. Full list of elected CMC will be published in the Pensioners Post of December issue. A new SB Account in the joint names of General Secretary and Treasurer will be shortly opened in Chennai in a Nationalized Bank for the CHQ. All Divisions are requested not to remit any amount in the existing POSB Account of North Avenue Post Office until further notice.
• The AIC unanimously decided on three Advisors to the CHQ. The Advisors decided by the AIC are: (1) Sri.A.S.I.S.Paul Retired Member (P) Department of Posts; (2) Com.C.C.Pillai Former Secretary General NFPE; and (3) Com. D.K.Rahate outgoing CHQ President AIPRPA.
I request the cooperation of all Comrades for the building of AIPRPA in our country. Let us all forget the differences and concentrate the Pensioners Unity which is very essential at the time of serious attack on our Pension and Social Security.
