CHQ EMAIL TO SECRETARY DEPARTMENT OF POSTS

Authorities reportedly insist production of Aadhaar Card for payment of Pension

DOP addressed by CHQ

Dear Comrades! The CHQ has received complaints from aged family pensioners that their family pension is being denied on the grounds that they must submit the photocopy of Aadhaar Card. The CHQ has therefore sent the following email to the Secretary Department of Posts seeking intervention to instruct authorities which are insisting production of self attested photo copy of aadhaar card as a precondition to pay pension / family pension. The Email is as follows:

All India Postal & RMS Pensioners Association
(Registered under No:83/2015 of Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act, 1975)
2/44, Muthial Chetty Street, Purasawalkam, Chennai - 600007.

No.AIPRPA / 1 / 8 /2015 Dated 7.8.2015

Madam,

This Association appreciates the efforts of the Department of Posts to get all the Postal Pensioners and Postal Family Pensioners link their PPOs with their Aadhaar Card Numbers as per the decision of the Government. This Association also through its own website propagating our membership to present the same to the respective offices where they are drawing their pension. However, here and there many Pensioners / Family Pensioners do not have any Aadhaar Card and they are not in a  position to link the same with their PPOs. This fact is to be recognized by the Authorities and they should not insist for the production of the self attested photo copy of their Aadhaar Cards. More over there are some Pensioners and Family Pensioners who are very much aged beyond 80 and physically also not in a position to take the strain to obtain Aadhaar Cards as it involves much trouble to obtain the card and at their advanced age not physically possible. This fact should not be forgotten by the lower authorites who are reportedly forcing for presentation of the self attested Aadhaar card copy before 31st July, 2015. This Association has been informed by some family pensioners about the problem they are forced to face in this behalf. We request you to kindly intervene and cause to instruct suitably to not to deny pension or family pension for not able to present Aadhaar Card copy.

We will highly appreciate for your immediate action.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfylly,
K.Ragavendran
General Secretary
