Tomorrow the 19th September is the 

Golden Jubilee of 1968 Strike!

Observe Befittingly!

Comrades, 50 years have rolled since the historic one-day token strike of all Central Government Employees was organized on 19th September, 1968. It was historic because the then Government headed by Smt.Indira Gandhi tried to suppress the strike with iron hand, even though the strike was for only one day. 25,000 temporary employees were issued with one-month termination notices for their participation in the strike. Strong punishments were awarded. Leaders and Workers were arrested. Police resorted to firing also. The Central Government Employees movement overcame the attack and faced all the adverse conditions with bravery. Today, on the Golden Jubilee day of the 1968 Strike, we are celebrating the historic occasion. 

AIPRPA CHQ calls upon all our rank and file organization to befittingly celebrate the occassion. Join with other Postal and Central Government Employees organizations in the celebration. Hold independent mobilization also to celebrate and remember the sacrifices of our predecessors. 1968 September Strike is really an unforgettable chapter in the trade union history of Central Government Employees.
